My project centres around the delicate art of Japanese watercolour, specifically focusing on the elegance of cherry trees. Through a series of paintings, I strive to capture the serene beauty of these iconic trees, emphasizing their blossoms against a minimalist background. Utilizing a limited colour palette, my goal is to distil the essence of nature’s tranquillity and the ephemeral beauty of the cherry tree. Each brushstroke is deliberate and thoughtful, paying homage to traditional techniques while expressing a contemporary interpretation of this timeless subject. This project celebrates nature and invites viewers to find peace in simplicity and appreciate the fleeting yet profound moments of beauty in the natural world.
